10 Questions with Jennifer of The Redneck Romance Writer

1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
Redneck Romance writer with author angst, occasional political stabs and lots and lots of tongue in cheek. Often found shameless pimping other authors, music and self.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
This is a tough one. Don’t judge me, Okay?
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I love to blog. I blog everyday because I enjoy it. I think I entertain and even provoke thought…well sometimes.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I wanted to be a writer. Through one site and then another, I discovered I needed “online presence”. And a blog was born.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
People who don’t blog consistently or only blog promotion. I like variety. The blogs I visit are a little bit of everything.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
Blog stats on Wordpress. I’m obsessed with them.
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Ooooo I’d want Dorothy L. Sayers, a mystery author I adore. She wrote awesome mysteries AND non-fiction. She was brilliant.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
Oh, it’s made me less boring. I tried to blog to “avoid controversy” and that was a snooze. Now, I just blog a little bit deeper and it’s cathartic. I don’t emote all over my readers, but I do reveal a little of the inner workings as insane as they are.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Don’t fake it. Genuine is better and false blogging will get you ignored. People like to see who you are. Not TOO much, but a little. I have certain days I do certain things. I have “Just Sayin’” Mondays and “Whiskey Wednesdays”. Do the “Thursday Thirteen” and get on the blog roll.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
Attack of the Redneck Mommy. She’s HILARIOUS and she also has made me cry. She’s amazing. What makes it unique? Her voice. You can’t fake that.
