10 Questions with Cardiogirl of Cardiogirl: 19% Body Fat 100% Fun
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
Someone needs to notice the details of life and that someone is me – Cardiogirl. In my travels I have realized at times the small details add up to the big things in life. My blog is usually quirky, sometimes sobering and mostly fun. It’s a place to kick off your shoes and unwind. I’m a low maintenance chick — have Converse low tops, will travel.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
Don’t Try This at Home
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
My voice (how I write and what I say), my vision (what I notice and how I think) and my daily Converse Low Top Mood Indicator.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I ran across Mimi Smartypants over at Diaryland around August of 2006. I don’t remember how I found her, possibly through an unrelated Google search. Anyway, I read her for a while and then decided, I can do that, too. I started a blog at Diaryland and then bought my domain name in September 2007.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
At times the blogosphere feels like a big old junior high school where there are cool kids (high Google page rank, high Alexa rank) who won’t talk to the less popular kids. Also, I find it extremely annoying when I leave a person a comment explaining how to do something and that person gives me no acknowledgment. Most recently, I turned someone on to a poll site so she wouldn’t have to calculate the results by hand in Excel via her comment section and all she did was say she created a new poll, and thankfully she didn’t have to calculate the results by hand. A little bit o’ thanks would be nice. I’m not asking anyone to link to me, heaven forbid, I just think it’s good form to say please and thank you. Even on the internet.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
Sitemeter. Though the actual website has been running kind of slow lately, I really like the fact that it’s free, it provides details about my visitors, location, referrals, daily page count, etc. A very useful tool and it’s free!
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Kathy Griffin. I would love Kathy to spend an afternoon with my extended family (parents and siblings), annoying neighbors and the cat that taunts and lures me at the same time. I believe she could easily write a 1,000-word post while having fun and choosing a low top to suit her mood. She would have to refrain from profanity and only use d@mn sparingly. I still think she could do it. She doesn’t have to work blue.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
I have found my blog to be extremely therapeutic. It’s so interesting to me how I sit down to write about a certain topic and discover I have found the answer to a different issue looming in the back of my mind. That has provided me with a certain measure of peace.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Write every day. Even though it might not feel like your best work, you will find the more you write, the better you get. Answer all of your comments. It creates goodwill, dialogue and interactivity.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
theshortestblogintheworld. Usually each post is three sentences or less. I just found this one through a random search and it actually satisfies my blogging taste. It’s tasty and intriguing, it leaves me wanting a bit more, but never feeling bloated.

And if I may quickly throw out a thank you to AntiBarbie — You are very kind and one of the few bloggers out there who does not have an agenda. Just there to write good stuff and enjoy other blogs. I’m honored to be among your ranks.
