10 Questions with John of DNXpert.com
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
Domaining is my passion. I decided to launch dnxpert.com in order to help ordinary folks get informed about domain names. There is so much information out there, but not many places where you can get the information without the fluff. I endeavor to post regular news and headlines from the domain name industry, and at the same time keep my readers up to date with coupon codes and domaining program reviews. I also hand out free available and expired domain lists on a regular basis.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
I would have to say it’s the first post I made on dnxpert.com - the Welcome post. It pretty much explains what I am about and what I am trying to achieve.
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I try to give more then I take. I scour the web for useful information that I can provide my readers with. I regularly give away lists of available and expired domains that get scooped up within minutes of their posting. Most of the names I find and give away can be immediately sold on for a profit. I could do the selling myself, but I find it more rewarding to know that someone out there might be looking for a domain to start their site with, and they cannot afford the exorbitant prices that most domains are tagged with.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I discovered blogging a few years back, but I never really took it seriously until this year. I think blogs are revolutionizing the internet. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to interact with your readers in such a direct way.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
Blatant opportunists get on my nerves. Don’t get me wrong, the entire idea of the internet is based around opportunism, but a lot of people do things on the net, that they wouldn’t dare do in real life. I have numerous stories where people tried to take advantage of my naivety/honesty (take it as you like ). Just recently I paid for a domain only to have the buyer disappear on me without a trace ( He didn’t push the domain ). Luckily, PayPal came to my rescue. But I lived through it, and it has made me stronger.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
Hm, that’s a tough one. Perhaps the PhpExec plugin. That beauty let’s you plug in a lot of customized php code into your wordpress blog without any problems.
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Because I deal with domains, my heroes in the field are the guys that made it big. I think I’d love a guest post from Rick Schwartz. That guy was smart enough to recognize the power of a domain name back in 1995 when most of us were too busy playing Sega Mega Drive, or whatever little gaming console was popular at the time.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
To be honest, blogging hasn’t made me a better person. I am still who I was before I started blogging. What blogging has done for me is helped me focus my energy. I spend less time wasting time in front the tv, and more doing productive things on my blog. And when I am done with my blog, I go out and relax. I am a lot more organized since I became a blogger.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
I think the most important tip to becoming a better blogger is to never stop learning. Times are changing. Ok, none of us can probably keep up entirely, but we should at least try. Keep reading the blogs in your niche, keep learning new things. Keep optimizing your blogs, and ask your readers for their views.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
I read a lot of blogs in my day to day online life. I think singling out just one would be unfair to the others.
