10 Questions with Ellie of The Transparent Hypnotist

Ten Questions with Ellie of The Transparent Hypnotist

hypnosis.jpg1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
It is all about radical transparency. First I like the word radical and transparency is cool because my fatal flaw has always been about being too open or transparent in all that I do. My life as a hypnotist is no different, so hence my blog The Transparent Hypnotist. It is a place to grab a cup of coffee and learn about the inner workings and odd aspects of hypnosis.

2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
A cup of coffee – and about the state of hynosis

3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
What sets me apart from other bloggers? I am not sure about this one. In the hypnosis world of blogs, mine is less about giving you five ways to knock yourself out, but rather the stories behind how we come up with five ways to knock yourself out.

4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I am a journal writer, so blogging seems quite natural. I started online journaling in 2000, but started this blog this past April.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
My greatest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet is the amount of negativity that others feel compelled to share in comments or forums. It is one thing to be constructive or have an opinions, it is another to just be mean for the sake of being mean.

6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
The blogging widget I cannot live without would be the polls widget. I find having a weekly poll on the blog helps me to learn more about my audience. Plus it adds a small bit of interactivity.

7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
If I could choose anyone living or dead to write a guest post for my blog, it would be a toss up between Freud and Messmer – Freud because many of his ideas annoy me and it would be fun to see what he would actually write (and I do not hate my mother) or Messmer because he was so garishly entertaining.

8. How has blogging made you a better person?
Blogging has made me a better person because it forces me to connect with others, and I never thought I would have so many friends (especially in the hypnosis field). It gives me an outlet where I would normally remain quiet.

9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
My tips for being a better blogger would include making sure that you enjoy your blog topic. I read a lot of money-making blogs, and I feel like a lot of people get lost in the muddle of this complex issue. The more you like your topic, the more it shows and the blog seems more genuine.

10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
Cognitive Daily. It relates to my field in a way that is interesting and easy to red. It does not lose me in the babble of big words. It also has a fun side to what could be very boring.
