Ten Questions with Jerry of 33 is the new 23
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog is collection of thoughts and opinions I have at anytime during a given day. My blog is about the outdoors and sports. My blog is a way for me to work on my writing when the fiction isn’t working out all that well. My blog is one way for me to make very little money, but have lots of fun. My blog is totally and utterly random.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
What has blogging done for me?
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I think that one thing that sets my blog apart is that the heart of the blog is done for me. Yes, I write some ads here and there, but mostly, I write things I want to write about. I think that too many people just write about what they think others want to read. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, but it’s just not me - for now at least!
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I first discovered blogging when I joined myspace a couple years back. I found it as a good way to amuse myself by talking about random things in my life that seemed pretty funny to me. Some people thought it was pretty funny, but it got old so I got my own blog on blogger.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
My biggest pet peeve is when I see that someone has viewed my page or left a comment and when I click on theirs, it’s full of spam or adult content.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
I can’t live without the Alexa widget because for some reason, it’s addictive to look and see how traffic changes from time to time… when I actually get traffic, which is kind of rare!
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
I thought about this for a while and the writer in me has to go with Jack Kerouac. The are so many aspects of his life and periods of writing, albeit brief, that are fascinating. Just when you think that the guy is all about driving cross country, drinking in box cars, and looking for the meaning of life; you can pick up “The Town And The City” and read about a young teenage football player from suburbia, who is as normal as anyone else.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
IF blogging has made me a better person, it would be because writing is very personal and it forces me to look at myself when I try to relate to other situations. By looking at myself, I see my flaws and even the things that make me pride.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Just keep writing. Always take constructive criticism, but only do what feels right to you.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
Mischief, Mayhem & Pornography Dave’s a pretty creative guy, who lives for the day, and then writes about it.
