Hack WordPress: A blog we luv

On August 23rd, 2007, Mark Sierra did a wonderful job with writing a review about Kyle Eslick and his personal blog titled, “Kyle’s Cove“. As it turns out, Kyle and I have a little bit of history together. He was one of the first bloggers I met only after about six months of blogging myself. If I am not mistaken, we met in a chat room on JohnTP.com. At any rate, as the months have gone by, I have watched his blog grow and have witnessed such an amazing success with his increased readership and overall public interest level.

On Oct. 1st, 2007, Kyle launched a second blog. It’s a very good one too! I didn’t put two and two together until a week later when I checked out the about me page. I was totally “Wowed”. It seems that Kyle has picked up quite a bit of WordPress knowledge over the last year. The tips he offers are totally spot on, easy to follow and extremely useful.

His new blog is titled, “Hack WordPress” and boy let me tell you… Kyle does a great job at hacking it up, tearing it up and providing readers with some amazing WordPress tips and tricks.

The blog is brand new, and Kyle tends to be a little shy with putting his own blog in the spotlight, so I figured I would do it for him. We’re all bloggers here and majority of us use WordPress. So, take a moment to check out his new blog, be sure to bookmark and or save the blog to your faves… and most importantly, I would recommend subscribing to his RSS feed as I can quickly see it becoming a leading source of information for WordPress customization tips and advice.

Kyle… you are doing awesome buddy! Keep up the great work and enjoy the luv coming at you from the BlogsWeLuv team!

  1. Geesh, what took you so long to write your first post, Garry? LOL

I’m definitely going to have to check out Kyle’s blog. I feel my blog’s code calling to me and if Kyle’s can help me answer it, then I’m sure it’ll be a pleasant journey.

  2. I don’t know… I got lazy!

Kyle is a great guy… I am sure you know… you wrote the review on his personal blog.

It sure is exciting to get to know so many people and witness their continued growth and success. Kyle is a class act and deserves a ton of luv!!!

  3. Great start, Garry! I’ll definitely have to stop by Kyle’s site and check it out. It’s always fun to learn new tricks for Wordpress =)

  4. Great review, Garry! I’ve checked out Kyle’s Cove a few times, so I’ll have to take a look at this one as well. :)

  5. What I like most is that he doesn’t over complicate things. His advice is very easy to follow.

  6. Wow Garry, thanks for the wonderful review. JohnTP’s message boards were short lived, but I think that might have been where we met.

I learn as I go, so that is probably why it is simplified a bit. I also see a lot of guides that don’t dumb it down enough, so I try to do that.

Hack WordPress was actually created for 3 reasons:

    1) It was to good of a domain to pass up! :D

    2) I was talking about WordPress to much on my personal blog, so I decided to spin that stuff off into its own website. That way I can stay focused on my personal blog. Some of the stuff I am moving over (re-writing it as I do to avoid duplicate content), but I have already posted a LOT of new stuff I’ve never talked about on Kyle’s Cove.

    3) I’ve been pretty happy with the traffic that Kyle’s Cove gets as well as the income, but I felt it stabilized a bit so I decided to try this and see if I can continue to grow my traffic/income. It will take awhile to get a lot of content indexed and start showing dividends, but I think it will payoff in the long run.

I’ve actually got about 20 posts scheduled to go up over the coming weeks and I’ve got about 20 that are floating around in my head. It will be a little while until ideas dry up :)

Thanks again for the kind words Garry, it helps keep me going!

  7. All in all, its great stuff man… keep up the great work!

    :)

  8. Great review, Garry. One thing I’ve quickly learned in my short time blogging is that there are not only a ton of talented people out there, but bloggers are actually some of the nicest, most-positive people I’ve ever “met.” Lots of compliments, praise and encouragement. It’s a nice refreshing change from the real world. :)

As per your suggestion, I’ve already subscribed to Kyle’s blog. Thanks for all the great WP tips, Kyle. I’ll definitely be making good use of some of them.

No problem. When I first launched, I put up a bunch of content right away, so expect some good stuff, but you may want to dig through the archives to get caught up :D

I couldn’t agree more! I love how the WordPress community helps each other out. Themes and plugins are a lot of work (plugins especially) and they are offered to anyone for free. I think that is where my passion for WordPress starts.

  10. The WordPress community and the bloggers within are truly very kind and helpful people. To bad other aspects in social and interactive life couldn’t follow suit. :)

Kind of off topic, but one thing that reminds me of something that has a huge opportunity is telephone support for most major businesses and corporations. Finding the automated system and then if you’re lucky, you eventually get in touch with a live person who doesn’t know the product very well and is reading from a screen.
