If there’s one thing that I think every human being has in common, it’s that we all like to laugh. After all laughter is therapeutic and even helps reduce stress levels. Why wouldn’t we want to? It’s good for us. I know I love to laugh and that’s why after reading several posts on The Ominous Comma, a blog which oozes laughter inducing humor, I knew I had to write about it.

The Ominous Comma is authored by Brent Diggs, husband, father and ex-marine, whose style of writing is downright witty, imaginative and certainly silly. According to his blog’s tag line “more fun than a mayonnaise enema” can be had. I can’t lay any claim to what the experience of a mayonnaise enema is like, but I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that the blog is indeed more fun. Plus I really don’t have any interest in doing any extensive research, so you’ll just have to trust me.

The very first post I read on Ominous Comma was a survival guide of sorts, teaching readers an important lesson - How Not to Get Mugged. It’s a very humorous article and well worth a read. A few examples from Brent’s article for thwarting a mugging include the following:

Run. - This is where your wise decision to quit smoking, exercise everyday, and always wear sensible shoes really pays off.

Transform into a werewolf. - If you have any lycanthropic tendencies, now is the time to explore them.

Develop multiple personalities. - Make sure they all know karate.

All helpful advice indeed and definitely worth keeping in mind if the unthinkable should happen and you do find yourself on the wrong end of a mugging. I’ve personally decided to stop carrying a wallet. I figure if I don’t have a wallet, why would anyone want to mug me?

After digging deeper into The Ominous Comma I found perhaps my most favorite category of posts, News Lite which is a series of posts poking a bit of fun at news and the media through satire. My personal favorite of the bunch, Google Acquires Luxembourg breaks the story of Google, the search engine giant acquiring a small western European country. Why not? They’re buying everything else these days. Perhaps it’s the first step towards world domination. Of course not to be outdone, Microsoft follows suit and purchases a small country in Africa.

There’s a lot more to discover at The Ominous Comma. Much more than I can pack into a review, so my best suggestion to you is to head over there and check it out for yourself. Perhaps you’ll find something that tickles your funny bone, just as I did.
