Ten Questions with Joseph of Ameliorations
01. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog is everything and nothing. It is constantly changing. I’m constantly changing. I post about religion, technology, science, my personal life (sometimes), and whatever else I feel I want to blog about.
02. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
News Morning
03. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I don’t have one subject that I stick to or specialize in. I was going to make this my new politics blog, but I don’t see the point in having too many blogs. One should be good enough. So I blog about whatever, and most bloggers I read don’t do that. They have one subject in particular, sometimes two, that they talk about and that’s it.
04. When and how did you first discover blogging?
Wow, it’s been a long time. My very first blog is over at LiveJournal and I’ve had that since 2000. I don’t exactly remember why, but I think some friends I had made at What the Fuck.com pointed me over.
05. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
Spam spam spam spam spam and more spam. Flashy banner ads or really anything but text ads fall right under spam.
06. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
Leprakhauns Word Count
07. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Davey Crockett. Because he was the last politician that really seemed to believe in and understand the Constitution.
08. How has blogging made you a better person?
More able to express myself and be myself. It’s both voice of political oppression and shoulder to lean on when I need it. By having this outlet, I can focus better on my day to day tasks, although sometimes it gets me heated instead of calming me down.
09. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Study about the Greek use of logic. Avoid name-calling and always be prepared to defend your postulations via logical proofs. I’m still working on most of that. Bad habits die hard.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
Chad Perrin: SOB [scion of backronymics]
He’s mostly a computer geek, much more knowledgeable then myself, and a lot more trustworthy, in my opinion, then many of the other tech blogs out there. He also has a good feel for what is and isn’t libertarian. I constantly have a discussion going on my mind just trying to work out all the nuances of the philosophy. He can articulate those conclusions that I am beginning to feel are exactly what is going on. I try to emulate that as much as possible but I still have a long ways to go.
