Yack Yack SEO - A Blog We Luv
September 19, 2007 – 11:00 pm | by Mike
When it comes to SEO (search engine optimization) I generally find most blogs which discuss it to be either a tad boring or dripping in egomania and in some cases they’re a great big mixture of both. Granted a topic like SEO doesn’t really scream entertaining, but if discussed with a little personality and friendliness it can be interesting. Enter Rob Watts. Rob is the author of Yack Yack SEO, a blog which as you may have guessed by now discusses topics of SEO. Rob doesn’t just discuss SEO of course, but being an SEO consultant it’s certainly a topic for which he has a decent level of expertise. You’ll also find topics pertaining to technology, social media, blogging and a whole lot more.
I discovered Rob’s blog way back in March and my first experience with him was very pleasant. I commented on a post of his asking for some advice on blog monetization and the answer I got back from him was very impressive, full of great ideas and useful tips. I could tell this was a guy that genuinely liked helping others.
More evidence of Rob’s willingness to help was a post in which he asked readers to recommend a website which could use a little help in the SEO department. His plan was to choose a website from the recommendations and then pass along some free SEO advice to the site owner. While this post didn’t go over so well, it was certainly the thought that counted.
There’s an awful lot to read and explore on Yack Yack, so I thought the best way to introduce you to the site would be to highlight a few of my favorite posts.
- Ten Magnificent Steps to Becoming a Crappy Blogger - If this is your goal, following Rob’s list of 10 simple suggestions should help you achieve that goal in no time.
- 3 Lazy Tips for Those Who Can’t Be Arsed to Hire an SEO - If you’re a cheapskate (like me) and think you have what it takes to properly optimize your site for search engine success, Rob gives you a little nudge in the right direction.
- Learning From Your Blogging Mistakes - The title speaks for itself. Check out the very end of the article for five things you should avoid when blogging according to Rob.
Yack Yack SEO is definitely the kind of blog that you could sit back, start reading and before you know it lose track of time on. There’s a wealth of helpful information here for anyone interested in bettering themselves as a blogger. Rob writers with a lot of wit, a ton of personality and always finds time to reply to his readers. To me that makes him an exceptional blogger and one you should consider adding to your daily reads.

This is a great example of how powerful personalised posts can be. I think I got 7 visitors from this post recently, of these 2 responded by leaving a comment over on my blog!
That’s an excellent response rate :)
Steve, glad you liked the humour there, thanks for popping by and introducing me to the concept of BJJ!
