10 Questions with Mindful Mimi

Ten Questions with Mindful Mimi.

Orange Girl1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog is all wrong :-) I mean, isn’t a successful blog supposed to be about one subject or area that one knows much about and shares with the community? Well, mine is not about any topic in particular and not even about anything I know much about :-) I write down my thoughts about literally any topic that is of interest to me and where I want to share my opinion with the world (not that anyone cares or reads it for that matter). So I guess that makes me the same as, what? 80% of bloggers who just write for the sake of writing and getting things off their chest?

2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
Choices are luxuries – or are they?

3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I don’t reread what I write. I don’t edit. I write it and I post it. So readers get my raw view and feelings on a subject. This leads of course to a blog that has no order and sometimes may come over as messy. But I am a very organized person in fact. Haha.

4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
Honestly I cannot remember. When the internet hit the world I found it fascinating. I could now email my friends from far away instead of writing and posting letters which took ages to arrive. I immediately set about learning how to make a website which basically just had a lot of things on it that I love (websites, books, shows, plays etc). So to me blogs are just the same as websites, it’s just easier now to have a site as one does not have to fiddle with domain names and html coding or the likes.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
To be honest I would have to say: that people get to know the real me (i.e. my name, where I live etc). Now, I know that sounds really silly and is very contradictory, as one lays oneself pretty much open in the blog world. But that’s how I feel.

6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
I love surfing to find new thingies. I do find that widgets and such clog up a site so I do not use many. And I can happily live without. I have recently discovered Google Page Creator which I find very useful for storing the images I use on my blog.

7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Oooh! I always hate it when I have to choose one where I could name a few if not many (and for many different reasons). Today I would have to say my other half. He means so much to me and has given my life a meaning and a direction. But he’d probably not see the point :-) so let’s pick someone less personal: Jeannette Winterson, whose book ‘Written on the body’ was recommended to me by my dear friend Tanicka and just blew me away. But remember, that’s today – tomorrow (or this afternoon, or in 5 minutes) I’d want it to be someone else.

8. How has blogging made you a better person?
It hasn’t. On doesn’t become a better person by blogging. One may become more relieved as one let’s off steam, instructed as one learns about things etc. If that helps to make you a better person, fine. But to me it’s not the blogging per se. It’s what I do with what I learn.

9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Focus, focus, focus. My blog was recently refused on a blog site because it had ‘no original content’. That sort of woke me up. But it’s true. I have no original content on my blog. It’s all a mix of other people’s things, or my opinion on what’s happening around me. Not very original. I want to write about what I really KNOW and through that maybe get to help people. Now, I haven’t found out what that is yet :-) so that may still be a while.

10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
It would have to be Indie’s Indeterminancy blog.

See his content is original. Even though the photos are not (always) his, the concept seems to draw people. It drew me and he has a good eye for choosing interesting pictures to write about and he writes mindfully well.

  1. Wonderful job on your answers, Mimi!

  2. I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t edit or reread his/her blog! I enjoy writing in a sort of stream of consciousness manner and when well done, like to read it, as well.
