10 Questions with Amy of You are a Fly – And You’re Sitting on my Wall

amy1.jpg1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog is my mental book that reviews all aspects of life, not to mention randomness. It’s how the average me begins to feel less than average, and my thoughts can be viewed uniquely. I want to connect with the people in the universe that are similar to me; that will find me fascinating and useful. I use my blog to open doors that have been closed by life. I want my blog to be the book I might never write.

2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
I’m That Lady

3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I’m conservative and not shy about it. I don’t care about national or worldly trends if they aren’t moral, end of discussion. I won’t compromise my principles in the least to have an audience.

4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
Some friends of mine blog about their families and such. I enjoyed reading their blogs so much that I thought to create mine. I’ve had a couple of blogs that have evolved over time, and are indeed still evolving. I asked a friend initially to help me set up my blog. She assisted with putting a song, and a photo slideshow.

5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
I’d say that my biggest peeve with the internet closely relates to how I feel about the freeway. People get this “anonymous syndrome” thing going on. I think they feel that because they aren’t “known”, or can’t be seen face-to-face/eye-to-eye, they can’t be held responsible or have to deal with the repercussions of being downright rude & hateful to others. I see it all over the internet and it just really bugs me. Can’t we all just be civil to one another whether or not we know each other?

6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
I love the statistics widget. It thrills me to see how many visits I’ve had each day. To know that people are reading what I’ve written makes it so much more fun to write the next post.

7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Noah – of Noah’s Ark. The logistics of that many animals & plants on one tiny ship mystifies me and I’d love to read his impressions. I’m amazed by the power of God; is there nothing he’s incapable of?

8. How has blogging made you a better person?
Blogging has made me more present. I’m definitely more aware of the day-to-day happenings, living in the moment instead of thinking of what to do next.

9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
People are interested in topics they can relate to in some way or another. Write about things that are important to you, but keep it open so that readers can imbue their own meaning into it, or can feel inspired by your words. It doesn’t always have to be “happy” stuff either. Be yourself.

10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
The World Through My Eyes
Kelly uses beautiful photography to encapsulate her thoughts. Plus, her blog template is fantastic. She’s a professional photographer so this is her strength.
