The Callboard Blog - A Blog We Luv

Very few things in life compare to an evening at the theatre. It is enchanting. Magical. I laugh, and I cry. For those two or three hours, anything is possible. Being the theatre fan I am, I am fortunate to live in an area where the arts are thriving.

Knoxville, Tennessee is home to The Clarence Brown Theatre (CBT), operated by the University of Tennessee and seated in the heart of the UT campus. This is my third year as a season subscriber, and there’s no doubt I’ll renew my membership for many years to come.

While checking my blog stats a few days ago, I noticed that someone had linked over from The Callboard Blog. The URL indicated that the blog was related to UT theatre, so I paid a visit to the site. I was absolutely thrilled to discover that The Callboard Blog is the “online home of the men and women of the Department of Theatre and the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee.” I was also very flattered to find my own blog, The Kat House, linked in their blogroll. Like a kid in a candy store, I hopped from post to post, catching up on theatre news and excitedly leaving comments. I’m now subscribed to the feed, so I won’t miss a beat!

The mastermind behind The Callboard Blog is Roger Hoover, CBT Box Office Manager. Though the posts are typically written by Roger, anyone with something to contribute to CBT and the Department of Theatre is welcome to post there. Commenting is limited to those who are registered on the site, but don’t let that hold you back. Registration is a quick and easy process, and all are welcome.

The Callboard Blog dates back to January 2007, so there are a number of posts to keep you entertained as you browse the site. You will find information on upcoming productions as well as news and reviews of past performances. Are you an aspiring actor? If so, be sure to check out the details on upcoming area auditions. You can follow the exciting lives of UT theatre students as they intern in New York. You can even check in on those UT alumni who are making waves in Hollywood. There’s a nice blogroll in the sidebar. Most of the links are theatre related, many of them having ties to the local area.

The Callboard Blog is only a small part of The Callboard, a website run by the Department of Theatre. Once you’ve had a chance to read through the blog archives, be sure to check out the rest of the site, which is easily navigable from the tabs across the top of the blog. The rest of the site contains such information as theatre directories, del.icio.us links, campus maps, a subscriber handbook, and even a crossword puzzle! There is also a daily event calendar which not only details the UT goings-on, but also provides information about other theatre productions in the area.

Naturally, The Callboard Blog will have more appeal for those living in the Knoxville and surrounding areas, but all theatre lovers can find articles of interest on the site. I urge you to stop by The CallBoard Blog and show some support for the arts!
