10 Questions with Dan of It’s the Little Things in Life
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog represents the complete meltdown of the randomness that is in my head. Also, it seeks to express the things that I do and experience in my life while offering a soundbite commentary on the things that are going on in the world around me. While it would be great to write things as long-winded and meaningful essays, the reality is that it is pictures and thoughts in soundbite format for the world to enjoy. You could say that I gained that by either reading Kurt Vonnegut or being blessed with undefined attention issues.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
We needed this.
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
My ability to comment with equal knowledge on Nascar and existential philosophy. Actually, if I had more time to do fun things, I would talk more about places that I hike, but I work a lot, so it often ends up being news and baseball and exhaustion heavy.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
Brian, the guy who set up my photo blog, hooked me up with blogger. At first, I was more interested in HTML. Then, I just got lazy with creation of actual pages (most of which were way too list heavy anyway), so I just started blogging more. That was 3 years ago. My original blog was destroyed when I went into a month-long fit of issues with mixing politics online with my professional life. When I changed from my old blog, I dropped the URL, and felt more free to be, well, me!!
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
Whining about life and not doing anything to correct it. Too many people seek pity parties on the web. It seems to help if they’re women who post scantily clad pictures because guys will then give advice. Two months later, they’re making the same mistakes again. I’m not against personal rants (I do them, too), but the drama queens (male and female) just have to go.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
The feature that allows me to upload pictures.
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your
blog, who would it be and why?
Chuck Klosterman or Bill Simmons. Nick Hornby or Jon Krakauer. Chuck
Palahniuk or Mojo Nixon. There are so many choices… Depends on what mood
I’m in.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
It keeps me occupied when I’m in the midst of working obscene hours and not having a social life as I can just reach out to the world this way.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Look at the blogs that you like. What makes them good? Find your voice and flow. Use lots of pictures. Wordy blogs don’t offer much if you don’t have a clever title, and even then, how do you sell yourself if not with pictures? That said, they don’t need to be pictures of you, but…
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
Any of the blogs on my sidebar would be good. They patronize me, so I think you should patronize them. Some come more often than others… that’s a good thing, but still. Go visit all of them.

Seeing as you’re up on the duct taped burglar hip tip, I’ll give you a break – this time.
And as I stated, the pictures are just billboards to the content.
Have a good 1 and travel my site frequently and often.
As for the clown remark, that would be here.
