10 Questions with Patrick of There’s a Blog in My Soup!
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog is about my personal journey. From my slavery in corporate America. To my discovery of the Secret and the Law of Attraction. To my intention and manifestation and goal of Achieving 1 Million Dollars by my 30th Birthday.
In essence it is my journey from bondage to freedom, from poor to rich, from have-not, to need-not. Lastly It is my testament that the Law of Attraction is a Law of God, and that if I can manifest $1,000,000 anyone can.
2. Link us to one post from your blog that best defines who you are.
Who am I…and Why am I doing this?!
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
Being Mormon might set me a little apart, and being a fairly liberal Democrat, aka Progressive Democrat, might as well. I think these are some good viewpoints that I’m ready to bring into my blog.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I discovered blogging a long time ago, but I never really caught onto it until earlier this year. Now I’m on target to earn $1000 this month! (Not bad for only being online 3 months).
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
Well, I’d say.. there’s a lot of competition that makes it hard sometimes, but I’d say the worst is internal - I get distracted easily and it seems my blogging suffers. Staying motivated to write 3 posts per day is rough sometimes.
6. Name one plugin, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
I’d say side-bar widgets is probably the one I couldn’t live without - just because it makes it so easy to add new widgets. Second to that would be theTrackback/Pingback mechanism - I love being able to write about someone else’s blog and get a link back and traffic back.
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Definitely Jesus. If that didn’t take off as some major linkbait, I don’t know what will.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
I’ve met some amazing people, read some awesome things, and made money doing it. I’ve learned that I love to write and being able to make a living from it is just awesome!
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
1. Set goals.
2. Research NEW methods and use them. Add them to your goals.
3. Join in online conversations.
4. Start online conversations.
5. Never give up. It may take 6 months to get a PR of 5. But once you do - you’ll be making $100/review, and trust me - it’s worth it!
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it
unique?
I don’t know if I can name just one… I think…maybe Steve Pavlina’s, John Chow’s, or Problogger’s. But I subscribe to a hundred or so, and use the posts for ideas to blog about. You can’t always find something original to say.

it is interesting to hear blogging talked about from someone who approaches it strictly from a business/goal oriented standpoint. most people use blogging as a form of artistic creation rather than a monetary one. i certainly dont know what pr5 means and i am quite sure that if i did and focused on that that my blog would quickly become a source of great stress for me rather than a creative outlet and fatherhood jurnal as it is now.
