How To Expose Yourself While Maintaining Your Dignity

Blog About Your BlogIt seems that more and more blogs are offering guest blogging opportunities these days. BlogsWeLuv is the latest one I’ve seen join the trend (thank you Mike and Tish!), but there’s another blog that’s been around just a little longer called Blog About Your Blog that’s built on guest blogging.

Guest blogging, no matter where you find it, is a win-win-win. First, you have the blog owner who benefits from letting someone else drive for a change and possibly gain a few more readers. Second, the readers are treated to someone different in familiar surroundings. And lastly, the guest blogger gets the added exposure for his blog (yes, it was that kind of exposure I was referring to).

With Blog About Your Blog, you can really cash in on great topics from a variety authors. As one of those contributing authors, I’ve learned a lot about blogging tips, software and plugins, and stuff from some guy I can’t remember the name of. ;)

Matthew, the man behind the curtain that I’ve enjoyed getting to know, is a genuinely nice guy who clearly enjoys blogging and creating a community. And what a community it is! As of this writing BAYB has 222 subscribers to their RSS feed, and the number continues to rise. In other words, I’m jealous!

I don’t know if Matthew’s the inventor of this, but he regularly posts something called Comment Friday, and it seems to be catching on with other blogs. This post series is where readers comment on anything that comes to mind or sometimes given a topic to respond to. One lucky hand-picked commentor will be given a link back to their blog, plus a space on the blogroll for a week.

And speaking of luck, BAYB has a history of some popular contests, the latest of which offered two day planners to two lucky winners.

There’s truly something at Blog About Your Blog for everyone. Maybe you can become a guest blogger for them. But even if you don’t, you’re still going to enjoy sticking around for the good read it gives you.

I recommend guest blogging if you get the chance, or perhaps invite others to guest blog on your home turf. The effort you put into it can pay you back many times over. Now go out there and expose yourself, but remember to drop me a line when you become famous, okay? ;)

  1. Great job, Mark!

Btw, Mike and I will be posting an introduction to the new writers. Sorry it’s not up already! Look for it to be here tomorrow! :)

    Thanks for joining the team!

  2. I have trouble maintaining my own blogs as it is, I salute people who still have time to guest-blog! :)

  3. Hi Tish, oops — I hope I didn’t post too early! I need to get you guys that bio, too.

@pelf: True, it does take a little extra to write here and there. Admittedly, for me at least, it means I have to neglect something else for a brief period of time, but I do so enjoy it. I don’t know where I’m getting the energy right now. ;)

  4. I guess I should expose myself then .. through guest blogging of course.

  5. @Baron: could it be that your shyness is wearing off? Say it isn’t so!! :P

  6. @Mark: Yeah, you are so so right about that :) It’s the time-management devil, isn’t it? I’m such a procrastinator sometimes that blogging gets done, but not REAL WORK *blushes*

Blog About Your Blog is an excellent place to connect with other bloggers! Comment Friday is an awesome idea and it is very addictive.

Maybe I should run a Movie Friday just to talk about movies? *wink*

    K

  10. Hi K, movies would be good, maybe a “guess which movie this quote came from”. Might be too easy with being able to Google everything nowadays. :) Good to see you here!
