Book Giveaway
Linda Raven Moore has donated a copy of her book, A Little Twist of Texas, for us to award to one lucky reader.
Here is the description of the book from Linda’s website:
What do you get when you combine a large motorcycle, a small woman, four different states and thousands of miles of empty desert and soaring mountains?
A rollickin’ good tale, that’s what!
In April 2005, Linda Raven Moore set out from Silicon Valley on Beastie, her 1400cc cruiser. Her goal was to reach Fort Worth, Texas…solo.
It didn’t quite work out as planned.
This book is the story of that ride to Texas…with a twist.
Loaded with pictures and written in a chatty, ride-along style, you’re sucked into the adventure from page one. Whether you’re a biker or not, you’ll find out what it’s really like to go it alone on a motorcycle…and what a rider really wears under her jacket.
Tackle 50 m.p.h. winds, visit ancient ruins, meet cowboys and dowsers. Find peace and a growing sense of spirit in the desert. It’s all part of the adventure, of learning to just go with the flow. Refreshingly frank and quietly witty, this remarkable story peeks into aspects of a motorcyclist’s life that are usually skipped over entirely.
This is truly a journey that became a Journey.
If you’re interested in winning a copy of the book, write a comment explaining why you should be chosen as the winner. Linda herself will select the winner. She is currently participating in Blogathon, so a winner will not be chosen until after she gets some sleep in the morning. We will accept entries until the close of Blogathon at 9 AM Eastern tomorrow.
You can stop by and say hello to Linda at Raven’s Roads. She is blogging for Christian Children’s Fund. I’m sure she would appreciate some words of encouragement!

WOOOO!! Don’t enter me in the contest because I have this book. I just wanted to tell everyone here that this is an incredible book. Linda Raven Moore is someone I am honored to call a friend (she knows me from my old LJ days) and she is a wonderful writer. You will enjoy her story!
good to see some more sponsors participating!! ill make sure to read a little more about linda!! :D
Ooo I love the sites you feature on here. Well done!
What do you get when you combine a small scooter, a small woman and a city in Canada? An equally rollicking tale! My scooter has 50cc engine (wow! fast) and love driving it around town, and sometimes I even leave the city to drive down country roads. I plan on making a very long trip this summer down the back roads to Norther Ontario. I may graduate to a motorcycle someday but I do really just love my scooter. :)
I want to be chosen as the winner because I love to ride too, and I would really enjoy reading this.
@Crystal: Thank you! :D
@Danielle: Hehe…I can just picture you motoring around on your little scooter, Danielle :D I hope you to plan practice safe scootering should you win, and not read and scooter at the same time ;)
i think i should win the book because:
1. my dream was to take off on a trip across the country on a motorcycle…i always wanted to ride a motorcycle up that road that was at the beginning of Then Came Bronson (i think that was the show the road was on…and yes i am showing my age)
2. i could vicariously live my dream through this book.
3. i will learn a new word because i will look up in the dictionary what a dowser is. (and if i don’t win, I’m going to stubbornly go through the rest of my life wondering what that word means)…okay i lied, i looked it up already!
4. i want to know what a rider really wears under her jacket (just in case i do fulfill my life long dream)
5. i want to win
Popping in to say hello and good luck with the Thon. Half way there, woo!
oo enter me. I love a good book. And I sure need a new one to read. ;)
@Melissa: Hi! Thanks for stopping by :) We’re getting there! I’m not even a bit tired. That odd tasting Red Bell stuff is working wonders.
Red Bull, too :P
I usually practice safe scootering… :D
I hope I’m not too late!
I think I should win because I love reading! If you search Wikipedia for “loves reading”, you’ll see a picture of me. In your head, of course. I’m also going on vacation on August 1st, so I’ll need a very good book to read! I mean a very good book! And A Little Twist of Texas sounds very good. Oh and if I win, I’ll do a review of A Little Twist of Texas for you! Plus when I’m finished the book, if you search the keywords books, motorcycle, and woman, you’ll see me again! :D
