10 Questions with Judy of Sugar Queen’s Dream
Ten Questions with Judy of Sugar Queen’s Dream
1. Describe your blog in five sentences or less.
My blog reflects my way of looking at life and all the ups and downs that go with it. It says of my personality, that I’m a fighter, that I will survive. It also says that I laugh and try to find the humor in most situations. I think it shows that I am living proof that being a parent isn’t always fun, easy, or nice, but in the end you are still rewarded by the effort you put into it, with love and respect. It also reflects my love for cooking and my versatility in that area.
2. Link us to one post that best defines who you are.
Yes, Life Happens
I think this shows my sometimes twisted way of looking at situations that normally would stress even the calmest. I think that when I’m faced with life’s woes, I always come up with a smile. I also think that was one of my bests posts to date and I felt I wrote it well.
3. What sets you apart from other bloggers?
I really don’t think I’m that different from other Bloggers. I think everyone has a story. Some are just less colorful than mine. But I am willing to make changes and to learn. I recently edited my blog to remove most of the cursing. A fellow blogger sent me an email and said that I have lots to say and that my blog was really funny and that some really powerful Bloggers were looking at my blog, but what held me back from being a really great blog with important things to say was the strong language content. I thought about it and felt she was right. I think that some blogs are full of cussing but that doesn’t mean its for everyone or that everyone feels the same as I do when pertaining to certain words. I bend, and maybe that’s what sets me apart from other bloggers. I realize that sometimes you have to stand down and admit you’re wrong about an issue to succeed.
4. When and how did you first discover blogging?
I first discovered Blogging about a year ago, at Yahoo 360. I didn’t really like that fact that you could only put one photo up per post and decided it was time for a serious change if I wanted to really get into this. I decided that Blogger was right for me, so I switched over. I still have lots to learn so that I can switch some page elements, but other than that, I’m really happy with it for now.
5. What is your biggest pet peeve related to blogging or the internet?
I have to say that its the feeling you get sometimes that others don’t approve of blogs like mine. I think that some think you have to have a different blog address for each kind of blog you write, i.e. humor, political, mommy blogs, etc. Well that and the fact that so many stop by my Blog but don’t take time to leave comments. I mean it would be nice to hear what others have to say or to at least know I’m not just talking to myself or they didn’t find me by accident.
6. Name one plug-in, blogging widget, or service that you can’t live without.
I like the RSS feed button. I think it’s really a great idea to have a reader, like Google Reader for instance. It makes keeping up with blog updates easier. I also like my recent readers button that lets me know who’s been over to see me.
7. If you could choose anyone, living or dead, to write a guest post for your blog, who would it be and why?
Well this is easy for me - Erma Bombeck. I think she and I share a similar thinking on life. She was one heck of a fine lady and always kept me laughing. (Thanks for the memories Erma, RIP) Quote from Erma: “My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first one being hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.” I really think that it would be fun to have someone as funny as her grace my blog with her wit and charm.
8. How has blogging made you a better person?
Blogging has given me an outlet to life’s worries. It also has allowed me to realize that I love to write and wont stop now. I have found, I have a special way of writing about life’s upsets in a humorous way. That thrills me to no end and I am always thinking now. I use my brain for more than taking in knowledge.
9. What are your tips for becoming a better blogger?
Write about what you know. When you do that, people want to read what you have to say, because if they get a feeling you’re genuine and educated about the subject, they will come back and read more. Use spell check. A blog with lots of misspelled words or words that are jumbled together is worse to me than a blog that’s not well written. Read it out loud to see if it sounds good. That alone makes a huge difference.
10. Name one great blog that you read on a regular basis. What makes it unique?
I go every day come rain or shine to see what Fracas has wrote for the
day. Sometimes her Blog makes me think, sometimes it just makes me laugh, but it’s always interesting. She has a way of making you feel you’ve known her your whole life. She has set out on certain causes that are worthy of thought like self body image and dieting and the way the fashion industry sees what a woman should look like. She posts about things that are important not only to her, but to other women too. I really like her Blog.

Thank you both for allowing me to express myself in this way on your lovely Blog. I am so pleased with my answers….yes I forgot what I had wrote and was a little worried I would look stupid LOL! When I was in School I used to have a hard time writing what I thought about things, I am so happy to finally see that I have truly outgrown that. I am proud of my answers and I think I have really grown as a writer. I may never when a prize for it, but I have won the satisfied feeling inside of my heart and soul because of my Blog. Tish and Mike, Thank You , You both are wonderful people and you’re doing a wonderful thing for all us Bloggers and of course The Glaucoma Foundation!
